Our mission is to improve the lives of underserved populations by positively impacting access to oral health care and overall wellness.

We will do that through funding the deployment of oral health services and education, leading outreach and advocacy efforts and strengthening the dental professional workforce through educational advancement and scholarship opportunities.

We are committed to continuing and establishing strong two-way relationships with the people and organizations aligned with our mission. We do that through action, education, and funding. As we launch the Delta Dental Foundation of North Carolina, our efforts will align to strengthen children's oral health, adult oral health, and workforce and talent sustainability in our state.

Where we started

Delta Dental of North Carolina has been supporting underserved communities across our state since 2011, as a part of the Delta Dental Foundation of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. And since that time, we have awarded more than $2.2 million in grants to over 130 non-profit organizations across North Carolina, ensuring that more than 650,000 adults, children and their families have access to and receive the critical oral health care services they need. 

To date, our grants have impacted 83 North Carolina counties, as we work towards our goal of reaching all 100 counties.

Marking our 55-year anniversary in 2026, Delta Dental of North Carolina, launched the Delta Dental Foundation of North Carolina. By focusing on preventive care and community wellness, we can help ensure the next 55 years brings even more smiles.
